The Trade Attache of The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo Met The Director of The El Gouna Film Festival (GFF)

Thursday (29 October 2020) The Trade Attache of The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo and staff met with Mr. Intishal Al Timimi, Director of The El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) and Mr. Adham, Operations Manager of the Film Festival at the Gouna Conference and Culture Center (GCCC) Hall, El Gouna City, Red Sea.

The meeting was an attempt by Indonesian Embassy in Cairo to take part in marketing and presenting Indonesia’s flagship film products in Egypt and the Middle East. The participation of Indonesian films is expected to provide different screenings from existing film genres and as a means of achieving creative economic transactions.

Through films, the efforts of Indonesia’s nation branding campaign to make Indonesian products as iconic to the Nation will be achieved so that the market share of Indonesian products in the future will have added value in global eyes.

This is in line with the policy of Indonesian Ministry of Trade as conveyed by Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga during a visit to Technopark Cimahi, 12 September 2020. He said that the Ministry of Trade will encourage the development of exports of creative and digital Indonesian products. The Ministry of Trade of Republic of Indonesia will facilitate stakeholders with Indonesian digital developers so that the Indonesian digital industry can develop and penetrate overseas. Indonesia is also expected to not only become a consumer of digital products, but also take a position as a producer.

Mr. Intishal, Director of the El Gouna Film Festival, gave a positive appreciation for the initiation of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo to introduce Indonesia through film. Mr. Intishal hopes for a follow-up meeting to discuss Indonesia’s participation in the said annual El Gouna Film Festival.
